जो थके थके से थे हौसले

जो ग़म-ए-हबीब से दूर थे वो ख़ुद अपनी आग में जल गए
जो ग़म-ए-हबीब को पा गए वो ग़मों से हँस के निकल गए।

जो थके थके से थे हौसले वो शबाब बन के मचल गए
जो नज़र नज़र से गले मिली तो बुझे चिराग भी जल गए।

ये शिक़स्त-ए-दीद की करवटें भी बड़ी लतीफ़-ओ-ज़मील
मैं नज़र झुका के तड़प गया वो नज़र बचा के निकल गए।

न ख़िज़ाँ में है कोई तीरगी न बहार में है कोई रोशनी
ये नज़र-नज़र के चिराग हैं कहीं बुझ गए कहीं जल गए।

जो सँभल-सँभल के बहक गए वो फ़रेब ख़ुर्द-ए-राह थे
वो मक़ाम इश्क को पा गए जो बहक बहक के सँभल गए।

जो खिले हुए हैं रविश-रविश वो हज़ार हुस्न-ए-चमन सही
मग़र उन गुलों का जवाब क्या जो क़दम-क़दम पे कुचल गए।

न है शायर अब ग़म-ए-नौ-ब-नौ न वो दाग़-ए-दिल न वो आरज़ू
जिन्हें एतमाद-ए-बहार था वो ही फूल रंग बदल गए।

हबीब = Beloved, Sweetheart
शिक़स्त = Breach, Breakage, Defeat
दीद = Sight
लतीफ़ = Juicy, Pleasant
ज़मील = Bonny, Attractive, Appealing
ख़िज़ाँ = Autumn, Decay
तीरगी = Darkness
ख़ुर्द = Little
रविश = The narrow pathways of the garden
नौ-ब-नौ = New, Fresh, Raw
एतमाद = Faith

    Just listened to this ghazal and loved it!
    Very glad to find the lyrics posted.

    Here are some of the things I heard different:
    First couplet: gham-e-habeeb, not gham-e-had
    Third couplet: ye shikast-e-deed ki karvate bhi badhi lateef-o-jameel thhi
    Second-last couplet: hazaar husn-e-chaman sahi
    Last couplet: na hai shayar ab ghame nau-ba-nau

    Realy Gazal is very nice. I think Rabish is not correct word it should be Ravish. Hindi me jisaka arth hai Bagh ke sankare raste.

    Yeh (nihayat hi khoobsoorat) gazal Shayar Lakhnawi saheb ki likhi hai. Gazal ke matle mein inka naam payenge – “Na ho Shayar ab…”
