The Purpose

Purpose is to create an online archive of Ghazal lyrics, methodology is to post one lyrics a day, reason is that there aren’t many archives which write the lyrics in Devnagri, motivation is the growing popularity of Unicode :-)

What more?

Let the blog grow and speak for itself… :-)

Let us hope it is sustainable…

And yeah - I am no expert at Urdu. Please do point out any mistakes in spellings, words and whatever else. Plus any discussion on the ghazals concerned are most welcome. Yeah, including queries about the words you do not understand :-D

    Good Initiative!

    May I pin-point the fact that there are many published and avaiable works of masters like Ghalib, Meer,Dagh etc of yerter-years.What has been sung by singers like Ghulam ali,mehadi Hassn,Hussain brothers etc are not the complete poettry of these masters.But,only a part that is relatively easy to convert into a musical form and also easy to understand.The depth of the poetry of these masters is beyond ishq,mehboob etc.Many of them are very philosophical and nearly true representation of our emotions.

    Anyways,thanks again for the great initiative.

    Dear brother ,
    Your goal is highly appricaible as poetry is an inseperable part of my soul. Iwould like to draw your attention to the Guljar’s page . there are few errors like:-
    in 2nd line, as per the singing time given per phrase it will be better to pronounce “ahsa” (with nazal sound ) instead of full “ahsan”. in 3rd line, instead of “dikh” it should be “dekh”
    In 4th line, it should be “puk” instead of “fuc” and I think the “sazar should be “shazar” .
    Please check the same .

    i got the lyrics of my favourite ghazals. thanks for that .

    can anyone know this gazal. had heard sometime back .and have no idea who sung it ( a male singer ) and also i do not know who has written it.
    please , some one if they know the song . please post it …
