चारागरी बीमारी-ए-दिल की रस्म-ए-शहर-ए-हुस्न नहीं
वरना दिलबर नादाँ भी इस दर्द का चारा जाने है।
महर-ओ-वफ़ा-ओ-लुत्फ़-ओ-इनायत एक से वाक़िफ़ इनमें नहीं
और तो सब कुछ तन्ज़-ओ-किनाया रम्ज़-ओ-इशारा जाने है।
महर = Affection
चारागरी = Healing of Wounds and Pain
तन्ज़ = Jest, Laugh, Quirk, Satire, Sarcasm
किनाया = Riddle
रम्ज़ = Secret, Mysterious

महर = affection
वफ़ा kaa matalab to aapako pataa hii hogaa
किनाया = riddle
तन्ज़ kaa matalab ’sarcasm’ ke zyaadaa kariib hai.
aur haa.N, yahaa.N रंज (ra.nj) nahii.n balki ‘ramz’ hai, jisakaa matalab hai gupt-, matalab bharaa, rahasyamayii-ishaaraa yaa innuendo.

FYI..Ghalib himself has admitted the greatness of Meer in his shayeri as thus:
“Rekhta ke tumhi ustaad nahiN ho Ghalib
Kahatay hain aglay zamaane koi Meer bhi tha”

Meer ke sheron ka ahwaal kahoon kya “Ghalib”
Jiska deevaan kum-az-ghulshanay Kashmeer nahin.
Means “What can I say about the beauty of Meer’s poetry
which is no less than the beautiful valley of Kashmir
